Buying cover
- Is iqava an insurance company?
- No. iqava is a marketplace. The cover you buy is underwritten by the licensed insurer or placed by the licensed broker named on the listing, and your contract is with them. We show you what is on offer, take you through applying, and keep the paperwork in one place.
- Does it cost more to buy through iqava?
- No. You pay the premium the provider has set. iqava does not add a fee to your premium for buying through the marketplace.
- Why do I see different covers than someone in another country?
- Listings are filtered to the country you are browsing from, because a policy can only be sold where its provider is licensed. You can change the country filter on the marketplace page at any time to see what is available elsewhere.
- How do I know what a policy actually covers?
- Every listing sets out what is covered, what is excluded and what you would pay towards a claim. You can put up to three covers side by side on the compare page, and where a provider has left something unstated we say so rather than guessing.
- What is the difference between comprehensive and third party cover?
- Third party only pays for damage or injury you cause to other people. It does not repair your own vehicle. Comprehensive covers both — damage to others, and damage to your own vehicle. Third party is the legal minimum in most places.
Your policies and claims
- Where do my documents go after I buy?
- Into your wallet at my.iqava.com, and into the iqava app if you have installed it. Your schedule, certificate and any other documents from the provider sit with the policy they belong to.
- How do I make a claim?
- Open your wallet or the app and use "Report a loss". You pick the policy, say what happened and when, and attach photographs or a police abstract. It goes to your provider, and you can follow each step until it is settled.
- Who decides whether my claim is paid?
- Your insurer. iqava passes the claim on and shows you its progress in the provider's own words — we do not assess claims, set reserves or decide what is paid.
- Can I use iqava for a policy I bought somewhere else?
- Not yet. The wallet currently holds cover bought through iqava. Adding an existing policy from another source is on the roadmap.
Your account
- Do I need an account to look around?
- No. Browsing, comparing and getting a price need no account. You only sign up when you are ready to apply for cover, so that the provider has someone to issue a policy to.
- How do I delete my account and my data?
- Email [email protected] from the address on the account, or write to us from the contact page. We confirm it is you, tell you what will be removed and what an insurer is legally obliged to keep, and complete the deletion within 30 days. The full procedure, including what is retained and for how long, is on our account deletion page.
