Underwriting & policy

From product design to a bound, endorsed, renewing policy — with transparent rating, a rules engine that routes referrals, and structured schedules that feed the documents.

Best use case

Insurers who want consistent, auditable pricing and a clean quote→bind lifecycle where the debit note and schedule generate from structured data.

Product factory & rating

A product carries a base rate, minimum premium and coverages (each with its own rate). The workbench rates every quote from the product, so pricing is consistent and changing a rate flows to new quotes immediately.

The rating workbench

  1. Score the risk
Hazard level, prior claims, loss ratio and size produce a transparent risk score & band— no black box.
  2. Apply the rules
Declarative rules refer / decline / load by line, sum-insured band and score. Over-authority quotes are referred, not bound.
  3. Freeze the rating
The premium, decision and risk snapshot freeze onto the policy at quote time.

Lifecycle

Quote → (refer/decline) → bind → active → cancel/expire → renew. Bind issues a booking code and posts the debit note; endorsements carry premium/SI deltas; renewalre-rates into a fresh quote linked to the prior term.

Best practice

Capture schedule & cover terms as structured fields at quote time — the policy schedule and debit note generate from them, so documents are always consistent and reprintable.
